NFI overview
Nybron Flooring International was founded through the merger of Bauwerk, Kährs and Marty in 1999. Annual turnover is about € 200 million (excl Marty since July 3rd 2009, and Bauwerk since October 20th 2009) and the headquarter is located in Jona outside Zürich, Switzerland.

Business idea
NFI's business idea is to design, develop, source, produce, market and sell wood floors globally.

Vision
NFI Group aims to deliver superior shareholder value by striving to be the market leader in wood flooring worldwide, to be recognised as an innovative, interior-design-oriented company, and to achieve excellence in customer satisfaction.

Mission
- Create more shareholder value annually than the industry average
- Achieve higher annual organic sales growth than the market average
- Be considered the market leader in design and product innovation by the majority of our customers
- Achieve environmental standards above the market average

Environment
All managers at NFI and its subsidiaries show a genuine committment to the nature. As one of its principal objectives, NFI strives to exceed the environmental demands of the market. Our sophisticated customers expect their suppliers to be conscious of the production process and the end products. What is more, an ongoing environmental programme minimises not only the environmental impact but also the costs.

Wood flooring consists almost 100% of renewable material, entailing less damage to the environment. The production process is also relatively clean in comparison with other flooring types. Waste from the process, such as bark, shavings, sawdust and other by-products, is used to produce energy.

Obviously, all our plants comply with statutory environmental requirements, and almost all are ISO 14001 certified or EMAS registered. The certification process started with a review under the International Chambers of Commerce programme for sustainable development.

Being closely related to the day-to-day business, the environmental programme is a devolved responsibility within NFI, which enables us to adjust quickly to new market demands. In line with these new demands, we have introduced a number of certified products (FSC and PEFC - wood from long-term sustainable forestry). Variety of these products has increased steadily in recent years. We are also working hard to reduce electricity consumption (which accounts for the bulk of our energy consumption) by improving production processes and equipment.

In short, NFI operates in an environmentally friendly business, but we still need to keep the environment firmly in the spotlight at all times and we are committed to improve further.
