History
1857 Kährs is founded. Main product is the spinning wheel, but other decorative and practical wooden products are also produced.
Ca 1930 Kährs is Sweden's leading wood toy manufacturer, but product range also includes furniture and fittings for public areas.
1935 Bauwerk gets mosaic wooden flooring patent. The patent for a machine producing a special type of wooden flooring is acquired and further developed.
1937 Marty is founded.
1941 Kährs gets patent on multilayer wooden floor.
1946 Bauwerk establishes production in St. Margrethen, Switzerland.
Bauwerk opens its first export office in London, UK.
1971 Kährs starts to export wooden floors by opening sales office in Denmark.
1974 Bauwerk is sold to Elektro Watt.
1979 HIAG-group acquires Bauwerk.
Marty is sold to a Belgian company.
1982 After five generations of family Kährs as owners, AB Gustav Kährs is sold to Järnbron AB (Ratos).
1983 Kährs acquires a company in Ljusdal, Sweden.
Marty family re-acquires Marty.
1985 Kährs is sold to Skåne-Gripen.
1988 Marty purchases a sawmill in Bourganeuf, France.
1993 Bauwerk establishes wooden flooring factory in Salzburg, Austria.
1996 Skanska acquires Kährs.
1999 Nybron International AB is founded as a holding company for Kährs.
Nybron acquires Marty (France) and Langmoen (Norway)
2000 Nybron merges with Bauwerk and NFI group is created.
Nordic Capital, Sweden, and HIAG, Switzerland, become the principal shareholders of NFI.
NFI introduces the gluefree woodloc®-joint to the market.
2002 NFI implements a restructuring programme and new management is introduced.
2006 Vestar Capital Partners acquires NFI.
2008 Senior lenders acquire NFI.
2008 Per Skårner appointed CEO.
2009 Marty is sold to the management through a MBO
2009 Bauwerk is sold to Zurmont Madison
